What is Faith?

Faith is…

A lifestyle

An outlook

It changes the way I perceive

It dictates my actions

It’s a filter for my words

Faith holds my thought life accountable, it must concur

Faith is personal, it is mine to keep

It is a tool, a weapon

A shelter for my soul

Living in faith makes me who I am

It makes me whole

Faith gives me freedom to hope, to trust, to believe

My heart & mind are one

They march to the same drum

Faith opens my eyes so that I can see

Not just what lies before me but what I wish to be

Faith can move a mountain

Turn water into wine

Faith is not worldly it is utterly divine

With faith I persevere in battle

I carry on in spite of pain

It connects me with my Heavenly Father

It lets me step into the realm in which He reigns

I fill up it with living water

I feed it with the bread of His Word

In action it is living, it is practiced, it is used

Faith is a gift from my Father

It is free

It is mine to daily CHOOSE

Every trial I am faced with

The hell that I go through

Rids my faith of imperfection

Tried, tested, true

I am a Mother In Action – Part 1

I am a mother in action.  I will not lie down and hope for the best when it comes to my children and their futures.  I will fight for them; I will call upon the power of Heaven and claim the authority given to me by Jesus Christ.  I have learned how to use the only weapon in the war for my children’s souls:  the word of God

After going through such a struggle to keep my son, Connor, alive I began to see parenting as a war.  Satan does not want my children to grow up with knowledge of God, covered in the blood of the lamb and armed with the truth.  He is the enemy of their souls and he has come to steal, kill and destroy.  He is totally opposed to the family and everything it stands for.  As a mom, I want my children to know God, to become born again Christians and to live under the protection of the blood of the lamb.  God has given everyone tools to live successful, happy, peaceful, wise, protected, blessed lives.  The Bible is full of promises for each and every one of God’s children to stand on.  I believe that my children are my greatest legacy and as such it is my duty as a mother to bring them up in the way that they should go and to constantly fight in the spirit for their lives.  I have put together some scriptures and prayers compiled from books I have read and my own prayer time with God; below is Part 1.

I pray that this helps you on your journey to becoming a parent in action

  1. Dedicate your children to God on a regular basis; give your children to Him (1 Samuel 1:27-28)

Þ     Speak it:  Tell God that your children are not yours; they are His.  Tell God that you are giving your children to Him to do His work.

Þ    Let us pray –

“God, thank you for the gift of my children; as your word says, “the fruit of the womb is a reward,” I believe this is true.  My children are a great blessing to me God; thank you!  You are so good to me Lord; I want to be good to you.  I want to bring you good, not harm, all the days of my life.  Because of this, I want to raise godly children, children that will do your work.  I want my children to be a light in this world; to bring people into your kingdom.  I give them to you; use them God.”

2.    Declare yourself to be in full partnership with God in raising your kids; depend on God to enable you to raise your children properly and he will see to it that your children’s lives are blessed.

Þ     Ask God to make you a better person so that you can be a role model for your children.  As in Luke 2:52 – Ask God to let you increase in wisdom and stature or discipline, and in favor with God and man.

Þ     Ask God to give you an extra measure of love, compassion, wisdom, courage, strength, energy, patience, and peace.  Tell him that you NEED to be the best person you can be and your husband NEEDS to be the best person he can be in order to be the best parents that you can be.  Tell God that you are not a perfect person, and that you cannot be a perfect parent.  But recognize that HE is the perfect parent.  Tell him that you need guidance in raising your kids.  That without him you will fall short.  You need him to fill in the gaps in your parenting.  You need him to teach you to be the best parent you can be, the parent your children need you to be.

Þ     Scriptural Reference:

  • “Give me understanding, that I may keep Your law; yes, I will observe it with my whole heart.” Psalm 119:34
  • “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.”  Colossians 1:9
  • “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
  • “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”  Psalm 19:14
  • “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”  Psalm 119:11

Þ     Let us pray –

“God show me my faults.  Shine a light on the areas in my life that need change.  Give me the tools to change these areas.  Work in me Lord.  Create in me a new heart, a heart that desires to follow you.  Teach me your ways.  Show me how to live a life that is pleasing to you.  I want to be a good role model for my children and for my husband.  I want to walk with you.  I want to know you better.  Fill me up with your spirit God.  Show me how to love my children how you love your children.  God please partner with my husband and me in raising our children.  We are only human; we cannot be the people let alone the parents you have called us to be on our own.  Let your word dwell in us richly Lord producing every good fruit in our lives.  Teach us to plant a seed in our kids that would produce good fruit in their lives.  Guide us in showing our kids your face.  I want our kids to see you in us.  Continue to discipline us so that we may always grow in grace and wisdom Lord.  Teach us to discipline our kids so that they too will continue to grow in grace and wisdom.  Thank you God that we may come boldly before your throne with our requests; we are not worthy of your unfailing love.  Thank you God for your goodness and mercy; please continue to make your face shine upon us, to grant us peace.  Guide us through our journey as parents; love us so that we may love our kids.  Let the meditations of our hearts and the words of our mouths be pleasing in your sight so that our children may also learn to live lives that are pleasing to you.  Help us to raise children that will one day do great things for Your kingdom God; it is all for Your glory God.  Thank you Lord that we remember that.  We love you!  Amen!”

Stay tuned in for Part 2…

I’m a Magnet

I feel like a magnet; a problem magnet.  When things are going wrong in my life those around me seem to radiate toward me with their problems.  I tend to heap them all in one big pile and internalize them; their problems become my problems.  Instead of dealing with my own issues I have a hodge – podge of issues on my plate.  My prayer list has grown so much I have a hard time keeping up.  I feel like a rubber-band that has been stretched so much it is about to break.  I can only handle so much!  Every time a loved one comes to me with a problem I point them toward God, I give them verses to read, I encourage them to pray and I pray for them.  I know that I don’t have to solve these problems on my own and that it is by God’s strength that we will overcome…but come on!  My brain hurts and I find myself just crying randomly.  Like tears are my body’s way of letting the stress out one drop at a time.  I may just spontaneously combust one of these days.  I am still waiting for the clouds to lift and the sun to come out.  I am waiting for a break in the storm.  I know my God will not delay and that his timing is perfect.  I just need a big, glaring reminder sometimes.

I’d like to have a peaceful existence.  I’d like for the world to seem right at least for a while.  But for now I will wait patiently on the Lord, I will continue to soak in the word, and to pray.  I will let my loved ones lean on me and I will lean on God.  I will be thankful for the blessings I have because they are many and God is so good to me.  I know he will send me word of his unfailing love!  He always does!  I just need to open my ears and eyes a little more these days…

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.”

Psalm 143:8

The Toothpaste Lesson

Today is Day 1 of my TMM or Total Mind Makeover.  Remember my goals from yesterday?  I am working on goal #1 today; loving myself more.  To love myself more I need to treat myself better, to treat myself better I need to think more highly of myself; therefore I need to change my thought patterns, hence –> Total Mind Makeover.

When I woke up this morning I immediately began operating out of my old mind-set and I hopped on the scale and scrutinized every inch of my body in the mirror.  OOPS!  Not a great way to start the day.  So I began to think of ways to get myself out of toxic thought patterns and negative behavior and into the mind of Christ.  Here are my ideas:  1) Get in the word – CHECK!  I read Psalm 139 this morning, I am fearfully and wonderfully made; 2) Watch my words!  I don’t want to plant any more bad seeds in my mind.  I need to guard my tongue.  This is harder than it seems but it is CRUCIAL in every aspect of a positive life and a healthy mind.

Idea #2 brings me to a lesson that my mom taught my sister and me when we were younger:  “The Toothpaste Lesson”.  “The Toothpaste Lesson” was given to my sister and me when we were teenagers and we had some pretty sharp tongues.  We would say things and then say sorry to cover them up.  My mom would always tell us that we could not take back our words; they were always out there and sorry couldn’t always fix the damage we did with them.  But her words to us never really held any water until she showed us one day.  Mom came home from the grocery store with 2 tubes of toothpaste; 1 for me and 1 for Katie.  She made us sit at the kitchen table and squeeze every bit of toothpaste from the tubes and then try to put the paste back in the tube without changing the tube by cutting it open.  Of course we thought we would be able to do it because we knew WAY more than mom; but boy were we wrong.  We squeezed every drop of toothpaste out of those tubes and tried every possible way to put it back in but all we succeeded in doing was making a HUGE mess!  As she watched us struggle to put the toothpaste back into the tube mom explained that our words were like the toothpaste; once we said them they could not be taken back no matter how hard we tried.

Though my mom did her best to instill this lesson in me about 10 years ago (WOW I FEEL OLD) it is really hitting home now.  Not only do my words impact my thought life and then my words and actions from there resulting in a downward spiral but they also affect the people around me.  My words plant seeds (good or bad) and instead of sticker bushes in my garden of life I would like rose bushes!  So, I WILL guard my mouth and watch my tongue.  After all, in the tongue is the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.  I would like to eat the fruit of life therefore I will speak life no matter how much effort this takes on my part.  I will be a good example for friends and family to watch their words as well.  I want my kids to grow up following in my GOOD example; that is why Jesus is mine.

Heavenly Father, let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight!  Let me speak life over myself and my loved ones.  Show me how to live my life with godly wisdom and grace.  Give me the mind of Christ and the strength to live each day for you.  Amen.

As a side note I’d like to brag on my wonderful mom who taught me this lesson so many years ago.  She is the best mom I have ever had the privilege of knowing (besides my grandma).  She did her best by my sister and me and she did one heck of a job if I do say so myself!  She parented with grace, wisdom, and strength beyond her years.  She taught me what it is to be a mother and for that especially I am forever grateful.

Are You With Us?!

Thank you for standing with us in this fight.  We have placed our faith in GOD and we trust that HE will deliver us again, HE is able.  Please recite these verses at least 3 times per day OUT LOUD…send God’s word to Heal.

James 5:15 “The prayer of faith shall save the sick…”

Psalm 18:1-2 — We love you, O Lord, our strength.  You are our rock and our fortress and our deliverer.  Our God, our strength, in whom we will trust.

Psalm 107:19-20 — We cry out to the LORD in our trouble; and HE SAVES US out of our distress.  HE SENT HIS WORD and HEALED Bob!

Hebrews 4:12 — For the Word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.

We are sending the word of God into Bob’s body and he is healed.  We use HIS Word as a sword.  We give no place to sickness or pain, for God sent His word and healed Bob.

Father I make a demand on Bob’s bones to produce perfect marrow.  I make a demand on the marrow to produce pure blood that will ward off sickness and disease.

John 10:10 & John 6:63 — The thief does not come except to steal, kill and destroy.  Jesus has come that we may have LIFE and that we may have it more abundantly.  The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are LIFE.

You have given Bob abundant life, He receives that life through YOUR WORD and it flows to every cell of his body bringing healing and health.

I Peter 2:24 — Jesus himself bore our sins/sickness in His own body on the tree that we, having died to sin/sickness, might live for righteousness – by HIS stripes Bob is healed.

Jesus bore sickness in His Body on the tree; therefore Bob is dead to sickness and alive unto God and by HIS stripes Bob is healed and made whole.

Proverbs 4:20-22 — My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings.  Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are LIFE to those who find them and HEALTH TO ALL THEIR FLESH.

Heavenly Father, Bob attends to your word and inclines his ear to your sayings, he will not let them depart from his eyes, he keeps them in the midst of his heart, for they are LIFE and HEALING to all of his flesh.

Mark 11:24 – Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

We believe your word God.  We believe that Bob is healed.

Psalm 91:14-16 — “Because Bob loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  Bob will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver Bob and honor him.  With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Psalm 118:17 — Bob will not die, but live and declare the works of God.

Psalm 103: 1-3 – Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; He forgives all our iniquities, and He HEALS all our diseases.

Thank you Lord that Bob is healed!

Create in Him a New Heart, O God

A Heart for Mommy From Blakey 2/11

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh,” Ezekiel 36:26.

God!  Create in my son a NEW HEART, a WHOLE and HEALTHY heart!  God, I believe that you have given Blake a new heart.  A strong heart!  I claim it now!  I believe it!  My faith HAS HEALED Blake!  He is my son and I am claiming healing for him just as I claimed your healing for Connor.  You created in Connor a new lung.  You gave him life when there was only death and sickness.  You gave him health.  I believe that you have done the same for Blake!  I REFUSE to accept less!  We will see with our eyes tomorrow at the doctor what we know in our hearts to be true!  What I see in my faith, in my spirit, I will see with my eyes!

Lord you are FAITHFUL!  You are TRUE!  You uphold ALL of your promises!  You promised life and health and that is ALL that I accept for my children, for my husband, for our family, for myself!  Sickness, imperfections, defects, diseases and death have NO place here!!  Where you are, there can be no darkness Lord!  You live in Blake!  You are Jehovah Rapha.  You are the great physician!  You have healed Blake’s heart.  He is made whole in you.  He will tell of your mighty works.  He will praise you alone, O Lord, as will Connor, Nick, and I!  Blake will tell his generation what you have done for him.  To you be all the glory!  You reign!  Glory in the highest you reign!  Every knee shall bow and every tongue proclaim that Jesus reigns!

You are mighty to save Lord.  Ventricular septal defects have NO PLACE in my son’s heart!  You have saved Blake!  We accept his healing!  I do not accept anything but the best for him!  Though the defect is not hindering his growth or causing any other problems it is not of God!  I do not accept anything for my son that is not of God.  Lord God you are exalted forever.  Your name is above all names.  Your name is POWER!  I proclaim this power to be used to heal my son’s heart and I BELIEVE that he is HEALED!

Thank you God for a manifestation of the healing I believed for!  Thank you that you created in my son a NEW heart!  I LOVE YOU GOD!!!!

Anointed!

“Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ.  He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come,” 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.

God,

You have anointed Bob!  You put your seal of ownership on him!  He is yours!  Satan, I speak to you and tell you to get back!!  Bob is God’s child.  He has been bought by Christ’s holy and anointed blood.  Bob has been redeemed!  Bob accepts Christ’s redemption.  He accepts Christ as his Lord and savior!  Satan, you have no power over him!  Bob’s body is God’s temple and where God lives you cannot!  Where God is there can be no darkness.  Cancer is yours Satan, take it back to hell with you!  Bob is healthy and made whole by God the Father!  Bob is made whole through his Lord Jesus Christ who died to take his sins and sickness, to carry the burden.  Jesus is Bob’s King!  He is Bob’s Jehovah-Rapha!

I call on God, I call on his mighty power.  Save Bob, Lord!  Bring him through this battle a changed man.  Bob is stout-hearted and courageous.  Bob is full of un-waivering faith.  Bob is as bold as a lion for you God!  Bob is whole, healthy, complete, and alive!  Let Bob live many more, honor-filled years on this earth as your servant!  You put your spirit in Bob’s heart as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come!  God I know what is to come in this battle!  VICTORY and HONOR for you!  HEALING, HEALTH, and LIFE for Bob!

AMEN!
